ABOUT ME
Even though I thought corporate design was my dream job, I always dreamed of being a freelance painter as well. But it wasn't until I was at the age of 50 that a serious illness brought me to the point where it was now or never to start. So I did.
And to my surprise, it felt like I'd never done anything else. I had arrived. From then on, I began developing my painting style and technique. The subject matter was quickly clear. Portraits and figurative subjects had always fascinated me. Furthermore, my academic training is a great asset in this genre.
I paint photorealistically with expressive elements. First, I create sketches to familiarize myself with the subject. My paintings then emerge from a loose preliminary drawing, which serves as a structural basis and gradually transforms into a monochrome, photorealistic painting. This development process remains deliberately visible: underdrawings, gradients, and glazes don't recede but remain part of the final image. In addition to the precise, almost photographic execution, expressive elements play a central role. Dynamic brushstrokes, controlled color gradients, and powerful accents in vibrant, often contrasting colors create a tension between realism and gesture. This expressive use of color breaks the rigidity of the monochrome background and opens up space for emotion, energy, and spontaneous interpretation.
Thus, my works combine technical precision with a visible process and individual artistry.
